3d pdf creation from 3d dwf
Software checklist - what you need
Dwf authoring software (eg Revit, Navisworks, Autocad etc)
Adobe Acrobat 3d Version 8
Adobe Acrobat 3d Version 8 Toolkit
Placement checklist
It’s a good idea to have the pdf file ready into which you to place your 3d content
1) Export your 3d dwf from Revit
2) Browse and highlight the dwf file in Explorer, right click, open with (i.e. not convert to) Adobe Acrobat 8.1
3) In Adobe, right click over the opened file, edit in 3d Toolkit
(Adobe 3d Toolkit launches and creates temporary *.u3d file)
4) Start, Search, For files and folders, All files and folders, search for hidden files and folders, enter *.tmp.u3d and click search
(Windows searches and locates your temporary file created by 3d Toolkit)
Copy the file to your permanent directory and rename it to *.u3d.
5) In Acrobat 3d open the pdf file you wish to embed the 3d view into, go to Tools Advanced Editing, 3D Tool.
Drag across the area to create the position of your view and, then on the auto prompt,
Browse to your *.u3d file
Change the background colour to white (if required)
Change the default rendering style (I like illustration, but solid is best on drawings)
Add default views (Left, Front, Top Iso all perspective)
